ABOUT THE QUEST

The Forgotten Knowledge Quest is one of the most important endgame quests in Tibia. It unlocks the Imbuing system — the mechanic that lets you add stat bonuses like life leech, mana leech, critical hit, and elemental protection directly to your equipment. Without this quest, you cannot access Powerful (tier 3) imbuements, which are essential for efficient high-level hunting.

The quest centers around Albinius, an NPC at the Halls of Hope north of Thais. You bring him specific materials to open six elemental portals — Energy, Death, Ice, Earth, Fire, and Holy — each containing a unique boss fight with distinct mechanics. After completing all six portals, a final encounter against The Last Lore Keeper becomes available for up to 15 players.

While there is no hard level requirement, the bosses are designed for level 200+ characters. The 10-minute time limits on boss fights demand solid DPS and coordination.

PREREQUISITES

  • -- Premium account required
  • -- Level 200+ strongly recommended (no hard requirement, but bosses are brutal)
  • -- The New Frontier Quest completed up to mission 9 (required for Fire Portal access)
  • -- The Ice Islands Quest completed up to “The Contactman” mission (for Formorgar Mines access)
  • -- 5 Heavy Old Tomes to unlock basic imbuing from Albinius
  • -- Team of skilled players (up to 5 per portal, up to 15 for final boss)

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Initial Unlock

Portal Materials

Portal Materials (continued)

Additional Items

  • -- 1 Phial of Fresh Water
  • -- 1 Reinvigorating Seeds

💡 TIP

Collect all 300 portal materials (50 per portal) BEFORE starting the quest. Most can be bought cheaply on the Market. Fish can be obtained by fishing. Marsh Stalker Feathers drop from Marsh Stalkers southeast of Venore.

GETTING STARTED: HALLS OF HOPE

1

Travel to the Halls of Hope

North of Thais
The Halls of Hope are located north of Thais. Travel to Thais and head north past the city gates. Follow the path until you reach the temple-like structure. Inside you will find Albinius, the central NPC for this entire quest line.
2

Unlock Basic Imbuing

Halls of Hope
Albinius— say "imbuing"
Bring 5 Heavy Old Tomes to Albinius to unlock the basic imbuing functionality. This grants you access to Basic (tier 1) imbuements immediately. You can now imbue items, but only at the lowest tier. To unlock higher tiers, you need to complete the portal bosses.

💡 TIP

Heavy Old Tomes can be looted from various creatures or purchased on the Market. Once you turn in the 5 tomes, Basic imbuing is permanently unlocked for your character. Check our Imbuement Guide for details on what each tier provides.

PORTAL 1: ENERGY PORTAL — BOSS: LLOYD

3

Open the Energy Portal

Halls of Hope
Albinius— say "Energy Portal"
Give 50 Marsh Stalker Feathers to Albinius and say “Energy Portal” to activate it.
4

The Replica Dungeon

Energy Portal Area
After entering the Energy Portal, you arrive in the Replica Dungeon. Here you must interact with two levers:
  • -- Left lever: Spawns Diamond Servant Replicas
  • -- Right lever: Spawns Golden Servant Replicas

You must kill at least 5 Golden Servant Replicas and 5 Diamond Servant Replicas within 10 minutes. Once the kill count is met, an Energy Gate appears in the center of the room.

DANGER

You have a strict 10-minute time limit to kill the required Servant Replicas AND defeat the boss. Coordinate with your team (1-5 players) before pulling the levers. Enter the Energy Gate together and pull the lever inside to start the boss fight.
5

Boss Fight: Lloyd

Boss Chamber
Lloyd spawns alongside 4 Cosmic Energy Prisms labeled A, B, C, and D. The fight follows a repeating cycle:
  1. Kill Lloyd (he will respawn after you destroy a prism)
  2. Destroy one Cosmic Energy Prism
  3. Lloyd respawns — kill him again
  4. Destroy the next prism
  5. Repeat until all 4 prisms are destroyed
  6. Kill Lloyd one final time to complete the portal

💡 TIP

Lloyd is widely considered the easiest portal boss. Start here to learn the quest flow. Focus all DPS on Lloyd first each cycle, then quickly switch to one prism before he respawns. The 10-minute timer is tight, so do not waste time.

DANGER

20-hour cooldown between boss attempts. If you fail, your entire team must wait before retrying. Make sure everyone has supplies and understands the prism rotation.

PORTAL 2: DEATH PORTAL — BOSS: LADY TENEBRIS

6

Open the Death Portal

Halls of Hope
Albinius— say "Death Portal"
Give 50 Pelvis Bones to Albinius to activate the Death Portal.
7

Navigate the Death Portal Area

Death Portal
The path to Lady Tenebris is guarded by dangerous undead and shadow creatures. Expect to encounter:
  • -- Necromancers and Liches
  • -- Undead Gladiators and Renegade Knights
  • -- Vicious Squires and Vile Grandmasters
  • -- Broken Shapers and Twisted Shapers
  • -- Shaper Matriarchs
  • -- Shadow Tentacles

DANGER

The Death Portal area is extremely dangerous. Shadow Tentacles deal heavy death damage and Shaper Matriarchs are no joke. Clear the path methodically — do not rush through. Death protection equipment is essential here.
8

Boss Fight: Lady Tenebris

Boss Chamber
Lady Tenebris is a powerful death-element boss. She summons shadow creatures and deals devastating death damage. Coordinate your team to focus all damage on her while the blocker controls adds. Keep death protection active at all times.

💡 TIP

Bring Necklaces of the Deep or other death protection equipment. Druids should be ready with Sio healing on the blocker at all times. Lady Tenebris hits harder than Lloyd, so do not attempt this as your first portal.

PORTAL 3: ICE PORTAL — BOSS: FROZEN HORROR

9

Open the Ice Portal

Halls of Hope
Albinius— say "Ice Portal"
Give 50 Fish to Albinius to activate the Ice Portal. You also need access to the Formorgar Mines area, which requires The Ice Islands Quest completed up to “The Contactman” mission.
10

Navigate the Ice Portal Area

Ice Portal
The frozen caverns leading to the boss are infested with ice creatures:
  • -- Ice Golems
  • -- Ice Witches
  • -- Frost Dragons
  • -- Frozen Minions
  • -- Dragon Eggs and Baby Dragons
11

Boss Fight: Solid Frozen Horror / Melting Frozen Horror

Boss Chamber
This boss has a unique two-form mechanic. The fight transitions between the Solid Frozen Horror and the Melting Frozen Horror.
  • -- The Solid form is heavily armored and takes reduced damage
  • -- The Melting form is vulnerable but deals increased damage
  • -- The boss cycles between forms throughout the fight
  • -- Focus maximum DPS during the Melting phase

DANGER

Fire damage is key against the Frozen Horror. Equip fire-based weapons and spells. The Solid phase is mostly for survival — save your heavy damage cooldowns for when the boss transitions to its Melting form.

💡 TIP

Energy protection and ice protection gear are both useful here. The trash mobs on the way deal mixed ice and energy damage. Bring fire bombs for extra DPS during the Melting phase.

PORTAL 4: EARTH PORTAL — BOSS: THE ENRAGED THORN KNIGHT

12

Open the Earth Portal

Halls of Hope
Albinius— say "Earth Portal"
Give 50 Acorns to Albinius to activate the Earth Portal.
13

Navigate the Earth Portal Area

Earth Portal
The overgrown tunnels are home to a mix of nature-twisted creatures:
  • -- Cave Parrots
  • -- Orclops Doomhaulers and Orclops Ravagers
  • -- Possessed Trees
  • -- Thorn Minions
  • -- Unbound Blightwalkers

DANGER

The Thorn Knight boss fight has FOUR distinct phases. Each phase has different mechanics and the boss changes form. This is one of the longer portal fights, so manage your supplies carefully throughout.
14

Boss Fight: The Thorn Knight (4 Phases)

Boss Chamber
This is a multi-phase boss with the following progression:
  1. Phase 1 — Mounted Thorn Knight: The knight rides a steed and deals both melee and earth damage. Focus DPS to force the dismount.
  2. Phase 2 — The Shielded Thorn Knight: The knight activates a shield. Damage is reduced significantly. Keep attacking and watch for the shield drop window.
  3. Phase 3 — Thorn Steed: The steed fights independently. Kill it quickly to prevent it from healing the knight.
  4. Phase 4 — The Enraged Thorn Knight: Final form. Maximum damage output from the boss. Burn all cooldowns and finish it.

💡 TIP

Fire damage is effective against the earth-element Thorn Knight. The Shielded phase (phase 2) is mostly about survival and patience. Save your strongest attacks for Phase 4 when the boss is enraged but unshielded.

PORTAL 5: FIRE PORTAL — BOSS: DRAGONKING ZYRTARCH

DANGER

The Fire Portal requires completion of The New Frontier Quest up to mission 9. You CANNOT access this portal without that prerequisite. Make sure this is done before you attempt to gather your team.
15

Open the Fire Portal

Halls of Hope
Albinius— say "Fire Portal"
Give the required materials to Albinius to activate the Fire Portal. Ensure you have The New Frontier Quest (mission 9) completed for zone access.
16

Navigate the Fire Portal Area

Fire Portal
The volcanic caverns are packed with deadly fire and corruption creatures:
  • -- Mutated Bats and Mutated Tigers
  • -- High Class Lizards
  • -- Draken Warmasters and Draken Spellweavers
  • -- Corrupted Souls and Soulcatchers
  • -- Dragon Wraths

DANGER

Draken Warmasters are among the most dangerous trash mobs in any portal. They deal massive physical and fire damage. Do not pull more than 2-3 at a time. The Draken Spellweavers can combo-kill a poorly protected mage.
17

Boss Fight: Dragonking Zyrtarch

Boss Chamber
Dragonking Zyrtarch is a two-phase fire boss:
  1. Phase 1 — Dragonking Zyrtarch: The physical form. Deals tremendous fire and physical damage. Focus all DPS and burn through his health pool.
  2. Phase 2 — Soul of Dragonking Zyrtarch: When the physical form dies, the soul emerges. This spectral form deals energy and death damage instead of fire. Switch protection gear and finish the soul off.

💡 TIP

This is one of the hardest portal bosses. Phase 1 demands fire protection, but Phase 2 switches to energy/death damage. Bring spare amulets and rings to swap when the Soul phase begins. Communication is critical — call out the phase transition.

PORTAL 6: HOLY PORTAL — BOSS: THE TIME GUARDIAN

18

Open the Holy Portal

Halls of Hope
Albinius— say "Holy Portal"
Give 50 Incantation Notes to Albinius to activate the Holy Portal.
19

Navigate the Holy Portal Area

Holy Portal
The temporal corridors are guarded by time-warping creatures:
  • -- Twisted Shapers and Broken Shapers
  • -- Time Keepers
  • -- Time Wasters
  • -- Lost Times

DANGER

Time-based creatures can slow your movement and attack speed. This makes healing and repositioning difficult during the boss fight. Bring Haste spells and be ready to recast them frequently.
20

Boss Fight: The Time Guardian (3 Phases)

Boss Chamber
The Time Guardian cycles through three elemental phases:
  1. Phase 1 — The Freezing Time Guardian: Ice-element phase. Deals heavy ice damage and can freeze players in place. Use fire attacks and ice protection.
  2. Phase 2 — The Blazing Time Guardian: Fire-element phase. Switches to fire attacks and fire fields. Swap to fire protection immediately. Energy and ice attacks are effective here.
  3. Phase 3 — The Time Guardian: Final combined form. Uses all elements. Maximum damage output. Burn everything you have and finish the fight.

💡 TIP

The key to this fight is recognizing phase transitions instantly and swapping your protection gear. Keep a fire protection amulet and an ice protection amulet on your action bar for quick switching. The final phase is a pure DPS race.

FINAL BOSS: THE LAST LORE KEEPER

DANGER

The Last Lore Keeper encounter is only available after completing ALL 6 portal bosses. Up to 15 players can enter this fight. This is the final step to unlocking Powerful (tier 3) imbuements.
21

Prepare for the Final Boss

Halls of Hope
After completing all six portals, speak to Albinius to unlock the final encounter. Gather your team — up to 15 players can enter. This is a significantly harder fight than any individual portal boss. Stock heavy supplies.
22

Navigate to the Final Chamber

Final Area
The path to The Last Lore Keeper is guarded by elite versions of creatures from all previous portals:
  • -- Broken Shapers and Twisted Shapers
  • -- Shaper Matriarchs
  • -- Stone Rhinos
  • -- Animated Swords
23

Boss Fight: The Last Lore Keeper (5 Phases)

Final Boss Chamber
The most complex boss fight in the Forgotten Knowledge quest. Five distinct phases must be completed in sequence:
  1. Phase 1 — The Distorted Astral Source: An unstable energy source that must be destroyed. Deals multi-element damage to the entire room.
  2. Phase 2 — The Astral Sources: Multiple astral sources appear. Split your team to destroy them simultaneously or they regenerate.
  3. Phase 3 — Bound Astral Powers: Bound energy nodes that must be destroyed in a specific order. Coordinate with your team.
  4. Phase 4 — A Shielded Astral Glyph: A heavily shielded glyph that requires sustained DPS to break through. The shield regenerates if pressure drops.
  5. Phase 5 — The Last Lore Keeper: The true final boss. Uses every element, summons adds, and has devastating area attacks. All 15 players need to be focused and coordinated.

DANGER

The Last Lore Keeper fight is a marathon, not a sprint. Each phase tests a different aspect of team coordination. Phase 2 requires splitting the team. Phase 4 requires sustained DPS without breaks. Phase 5 is a pure survival test with massive AoE damage. Do NOT attempt this without a full, prepared team.

💡 TIP

Bring a balanced team: 2-3 Knights for tanking and blocking adds, 4-5 Druids for healing, and the rest as damage dealers (Sorcerers, Paladins, Monks). Voice communication is absolutely required. Designate a raid leader to call phase transitions and target switches.

REWARDS

🏆 Imbuing System Unlock

The primary reward. Completing the full quest unlocks all 3 tiers of the Imbuing system: Basic (5 Heavy Old Tomes), Intricate (portal completions), and Powerful (final boss). This is essential for endgame gear optimization. See our Imbuement Guide for full details.

🏆 Stone Rhino Mount

Portal bosses drop Astral Shaper Rune pieces. Collect them to assemble the Astral Shaper Rune and tame the Stone Rhino mount — one of the most prestigious mounts in Tibia.

🏆 Basic Imbuing (Tier 1)

Unlocked by giving 5 Heavy Old Tomes to Albinius. Provides access to Basic-level imbuements with lower stat bonuses and shorter durations.

🏆 Powerful Imbuing (Tier 3)

Unlocked only after defeating The Last Lore Keeper. Provides the strongest imbuements with maximum stat bonuses: critical hit, life leech, mana leech, elemental protection, and skill boosts at their highest values.

💡 TIP

Imbuing is the single most impactful system for endgame characters. Powerful life leech and mana leech imbuements dramatically reduce potion consumption during hunts. Critical hit imbuements boost DPS by a significant margin. Completing this quest should be a top priority for any character above level 200.

3rdEarth PortalEnraged Thorn KnightModerate
4thDeath PortalLady TenebrisHard
5thHoly PortalThe Time GuardianHard

💡 TIP

This order is based on boss difficulty, not portal access difficulty. The Fire Portal also requires The New Frontier Quest prerequisite, making it naturally one of the last portals most players complete. Adjust based on your team's strengths and available prerequisites.

PRO TIPS

  • 1. Buy all 300 portal materials first. Get everything from the Market before you start. Running out mid-quest wastes everyone's time.
  • 2. Respect the 20-hour cooldown. Failed attempts are costly. Practice boss mechanics by watching videos or reading strategies before your first real attempt.
  • 3. Bring element-swapping gear. Several bosses change elements mid-fight (Time Guardian, Zyrtarch). Keep spare amulets and rings on your action bar.
  • 4. Voice communication is mandatory. Phase transitions, target calls, and healing coordination cannot be done through text chat during these fights.
  • 5. Start with Lloyd. The Energy Portal boss is the most forgiving and teaches you the quest flow. Build confidence before harder portals.
  • 6. Track your portal progress. Each portal completion contributes to unlocking the final boss. Keep notes on which portals each team member has completed.
  • 7. The 10-minute timer is real. Most portal bosses have strict time limits. If your team's DPS is not sufficient, the fight will time out and you lose your attempt.
  • 8. Do this quest ASAP at 200+. Powerful imbuements transform your character's efficiency. Every hunt you do without them is leaving performance on the table.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to complete Forgotten Knowledge to use Imbuements?

You need 5 Heavy Old Tomes to unlock Basic imbuing from Albinius at the Halls of Hope. Completing individual portals unlocks Intricate (tier 2) imbuing. Completing the final boss after all 6 portals unlocks Powerful (tier 3) imbuing. So technically you can start imbuing without the full quest, but you need the whole thing for the strongest tier.

What level should I be for Forgotten Knowledge?

There is no hard level requirement, but 200+ is strongly recommended. The portal bosses hit extremely hard and have complex mechanics with tight time limits. Lower-level players will struggle to deal enough damage and survive the boss phases within the 10-minute windows.

Can I do the portals in any order?

Yes, you can tackle the 6 portals in any order you prefer. The only exception is the Fire Portal, which requires completion of The New Frontier Quest (up to mission 9) for zone access. Most players start with the Energy Portal since Lloyd is considered the easiest boss.

How many players can enter each portal boss?

Each portal boss room allows up to 5 players. The final boss, The Last Lore Keeper, allows up to 15 players. You need at least a competent team of 3-5 for the portal bosses, and a larger group is recommended for the final fight.

What is the cooldown between boss attempts?

There is a 20-hour cooldown per boss between attempts. If you fail or die during a boss fight, you must wait the full 20 hours before you can try again. Plan your attempts carefully and make sure everyone is prepared.

Which portal should I do first?

The Energy Portal (boss: Lloyd) is widely considered the easiest portal and the best starting point. The mechanics are straightforward: kill Servant Replicas, enter the gate, then cycle through killing Lloyd and destroying Cosmic Energy Prisms. Once you have the rhythm down, the other portals become less intimidating.

What is the Stone Rhino mount?

The Stone Rhino is a mount obtained through Astral Shaper Rune pieces that drop from portal bosses. You need to collect the rune pieces by defeating the various portal bosses and combine them. It is one of the exclusive rewards tied to the Forgotten Knowledge quest line.

Do I need all portals completed for Powerful imbuements?

Yes. To unlock Powerful (tier 3) imbuements, you must complete all 6 portals and then defeat The Last Lore Keeper, the final boss. There is no shortcut. Each portal completion contributes to unlocking the final boss encounter.
