What are Virtue Spells?

Virtue Spells are a secondary cooldown group exclusive to Monks. These are toggle spells that provide different bonuses depending on your playstyle. Only one virtue can be active at a time, and they all share a 10-second cooldown when switching.

All three virtues are automatically learned when you get promoted to Monk at level 20. No quest required.

The 3 Virtues:

  • Virtue of Harmony — Increases Harmony generation (3% base, 6% when Serene)
  • ⚔️
Virtue of Justice — Increases Fist Fighting (8% base, 16% when Serene)
  • ❤️
Virtue of Sustain — Increases healing (35% base, 70% when Serene)

Understanding the Serene State

Double your power

Serene is the state where a Monk is at maximum power. While Serene, ALL virtue effects are doubled.

💡 TIP

When are you Serene?

  • Solo monks: Always Serene (100% uptime)
  • In party: Serene UNLESS you have 6+ monsters adjacent to you
  • Shrine bonuses: Ancient Shrine bonuses also double when Serene

Visual Indicator

When Serene is active, you'll see a violet bar or circle near your character (depending on whether you use bars or arcs display mode).

DANGER

How to Lose Serene (in party)

If you are in a party AND have 6 or more monsters adjacent to you simultaneously, you will lose the Serene state. This means your virtue bonuses will be cut in half until the conditions change.

  • Solo hunting (always Serene = 6% bonus)

💡 TIP

Best for:

  • PvP combat (maximize fist damage)
  • Low-Harmony situations where you can't generate enough for Spenders
  • Hunting spots where you rely more on auto-attacks than spells

⚠️ Balance Changes

4

Virtue of Sustain

Healing power

Spell Details

  • Words: utura tio
  • Mana: 210
  • Level: 20
  • Cooldown: 10s
  • Premium: Yes

Effect

  • Base: +35% healing done
  • Serene: +70% healing done
  • Affects: All monk healing spells + Virtue passive heal

Virtue of Sustain increases ALL healing done by monk spells by 35% (or 70% when Serene). This includes the passive Virtue Healing that occurs when generating or spending Harmony.

💡 TIP

Best for:

  • Tanking situations (running spawns)
  • Team hunts where you need to survive big pulls
  • Dangerous boss fights with high incoming damage
  • Low-level hunting where survivability matters more than damage

Stacks with other bonuses

Virtue of Sustain stacks multiplicatively with other healing bonuses like equipment stats and buffs. At 70% (Serene), this can make you extremely tanky.

When to Use Each Virtue

Situational guide

⚡ Use Virtue of Harmony when:

  • Solo hunting (default choice — always Serene for 6% bonus)
  • You're using a Spender-heavy rotation
  • Sustained damage is more important than burst
  • Hunting spots where you can maintain Harmony generation

⚔️ Use Virtue of Justice when:

  • Boss fights where you need maximum melee burst damage
  • PvP combat (16% Fist Fighting boost when Serene)
  • Hunting spots where auto-attacks are your main damage source
  • Low Harmony situations (can't generate enough for Spenders)

❤️ Use Virtue of Sustain when:

  • Tanking/running large spawns in team hunts
  • Boss fights with dangerous damage spikes
  • Low-level hunting where you need to survive, not optimize DPS
  • Learning new spawns (survivability > damage while learning)

💡 TIP

💡 Pro Tip: Switching Virtues

You can switch virtues mid-fight, but there's a 10-second cooldown. Plan your switches strategically: start a boss fight with Justice for burst, then swap to Sustain if you start taking heavy damage, or swap to Harmony for the sustained damage phase.
