ABOUT THE QUEST

The In Service of Yalahar Quest — also known as the Yalahar Quest or Yalaharian Outfit Quest — is one of the most essential quest lines in Tibia. Introduced in update 8.40, it unlocks access to all quarters of Yalahar, a massive northern city divided into nine distinct quarters, each with its own mechanism gate, unique creatures, and hunting opportunities.

The quest spans 10 missions and features a morality system: from Mission 3 onward, you can choose to follow Palimuth (the good side) or Azerus (the bad side). Your choices throughout the quest determine which achievement you earn, but both paths lead to the same outfit and equipment rewards.

Completing this quest is practically mandatory for any serious Tibia player. Yalahar contains some of the game's best hunting grounds for levels 50 through 250+, essential NPCs, and serves as a hub for other major quests. The sooner you complete this quest, the sooner you unlock hundreds of hours of content.

GOOD SIDE vs BAD SIDE — WHICH TO CHOOSE?

Starting from Mission 3, each mission gives you a choice between helping Palimuth (good side) or Azerus / Yalahari (bad side). Here is what you need to know:

ASPECTPALIMUTH (GOOD)AZERUS (BAD)
DifficultyGenerally easier, less combatMore combat encounters
Achievement (all same side)Follower of PalimuthFollower of Azerus
Achievement (mixed)Turncoat (if you did at least one mission from the opposite side)
Equipment RewardsSame for both sidesSame for both sides
OutfitSame Yalaharian OutfitSame Yalaharian Outfit

💡 TIP

Most players choose the good side (Palimuth) because the missions involve less combat and are faster to complete. However, if you want the Follower of Azerus achievement, you must commit to the bad side for every mission. Important: you must still speak to Palimuth to start each mission even if you intend to follow Azerus.

STEP-BY-STEP WALKTHROUGH — ALL 10 MISSIONS

THE WAY TO YALAHAR (INTRODUCTORY MISSION)

1

Talk to Wyrdin in Edron

Edron -- Ivory Towers
Go to Wyrdin in the centre of the Ivory Towers in Edron. You must be a member of the Explorer Society with at least Novice rank. Ask him about a “mission” and he will explain that a Tibian Explorer Society member named Timothy is stationed in Yalahar and needs his research notes delivered back to the mainland.
Wyrdin— say "mission"
Wyrdin explains that a new city called Yalahar has been discovered in the far north. The Explorer Society has a representative there named Timothy. Your job is to travel to Yalahar, collect his research notes, and bring them back. He directs you to Captain Max in Liberty Bay for passage.
2

Travel to Yalahar via Captain Max

Liberty Bay -- Docks
Go to Liberty Bay and find Captain Max on the docks. Ask him for passage to Yalahar. He will sail you to the mysterious northern city. This is currently the only way to reach Yalahar until you complete the Searoutes mission.
3

Find Timothy and Get Research Notes

Yalahar -- North of Depot
Once in Yalahar, find NPC Timothy just north of the Yalahar depot. Ask him about the “research notes” and he will hand them over. Timothy will also mention his native friend Palimuth who could use your help restoring order to the city.
Timothy— say "research notes"
Timothy gives you the research notes and describes Yalahar as a fascinating city that would be the greatest centre of knowledge in the world if not for all the trouble and chaos. He introduces you to the idea of helping Palimuth, a native friend, with restoring order.
4

Return Notes to Wyrdin

Edron -- Ivory Towers
Travel back to Edron and deliver the research notes to Wyrdin. He will reward you with 5 Platinum Coins (500 gold). This completes the introductory mission. You do not strictly need to return to Wyrdin to continue the quest, but the 500 gold reward is worth the trip.

🏆 5 Platinum Coins (500 gold)

Your reward for delivering Timothy's research notes to Wyrdin in Edron.

💡 TIP

After completing this mission, head back to Yalahar and immediately start the Searoutes mission. Having boat access from multiple cities will save you enormous time and money throughout the rest of the quest.

SEAROUTES AROUND YALAHAR (OPTIONAL BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

5

Talk to Captain Karith

Yalahar -- East of Captain Cookie
Find Captain Karith in Yalahar, located east of Captain Cookie. Ask him about a “passage”. He will refuse to establish ship routes unless you can prove that at least five cities are worth trading with.
Karith— say "passage"
Karith sees no reason to establish ship routes. He offers a deal: prove that at least five of your cities have something worthwhile by bringing him a special trade item from each. The local bartenders in each city usually know what is special about their town.
6

Deliver 5 of 8 Trade Items

Various Cities
You must deliver exactly 5 items out of the 8 possible options. It does not matter which 5 you choose — all 8 boat destinations are unlocked regardless. Say the city name to Karith and confirm with “yes” when prompted.
CITYITEMSOLD BYCOST

💡 TIP

Cheapest route:Buy the items from Carlin (150 gp), Liberty Bay (150 gp), Thais (200 gp), Venore (200 gp), and Ab'Dendriel (200 gp) for a total of just 900 gp. You can skip the Port Hope Tusk (requires hunting Elephants) and buy only from NPCs for maximum convenience.
7

Unlocked Boat Fares

Yalahar -- Captain Karith
After delivering 5 items, Captain Karith establishes routes to all 8 cities. The fares from Yalahar are: Ab'Dendriel 160 gp, Ankrahmun 230 gp, Carlin 185 gp, Darashia 210 gp, Liberty Bay 275 gp, Port Hope 260 gp, Thais 200 gp, and Venore 185 gp. Completing The Postman Missions Quest reduces each fare by 10 gp.

MISSION 01: SOMETHING ROTTEN

8

Talk to Palimuth

Yalahar -- East of Timothy
Find Palimuth east of Timothy, near the entrance to the city centre. Ask him for a “mission” and he will explain that there are sewer malfunctions causing problems. He asks you to fix 4 broken sewer grates using a Crowbar.
Palimuth— say "mission"
Palimuth explains that Yalahar has numerous problems in different quarters. He asks if you would like to assist in re-establishing order. Your first task is to fix 4 sewer malfunctions that have been marked on your map.
9

Fix 4 Sewer Malfunctions

Yalahar -- Sewers
Take a Crowbar (or Whacking Driller of Fate) and head into the sewers. Four locations are marked with an X on your automap. Most locations can be accessed through the sewer grate just east of the depot. One location in the northwest can only be accessed through a sewer grate near the Alchemist Quarter stairs — ask Guide Edna to mark this on your map if you have trouble finding it. Use the Crowbar on each malfunction to fix it.

💡 TIP

The sewer system is straightforward but can be confusing on your first visit. Follow the automap markers carefully. If you cannot find the northwest grate, look for Guide Edna near the Alchemist Quarter entrance — she can mark the location on your map.
10

Report Back to Palimuth

Yalahar -- City Centre
After fixing all 4 sewer problems, return to Palimuth and report your success. He will confirm the mission is complete and prepare you for Mission 2.

MISSION 02: WATCHING THE WATCHMEN

11

Find All 7 Guards

Yalahar -- Quarter Walls
Palimuth asks you to find all 7 guards stationed in the walls between Yalahar's city quarters. This is an excellent mission for exploring the city and learning its layout. Start from the Foreigner Quarter (southwest) and work clockwise through every quarter.
12

Collect Guard Reports

Yalahar -- Between All Quarters
Approach each guard and ask for their “report”. After giving you their report, each guard grants you passage through the wall into the next quarter. The route through all 7 guards follows this order:
#WALL LOCATIONCONNECTS
1Foreigner Quarter wallForeigner → Arena Quarter
2Arena Quarter wallArena → Alchemist Quarter
3Alchemist Quarter wallAlchemist → Cemetery Quarter
4Cemetery Quarter wallCemetery → Magician Quarter
5Magician Quarter wallMagician → Sunken Quarter
6Sunken Quarter wallSunken → Factory Quarter
7Factory Quarter wallFactory → Trade Quarter

💡 TIP

You can leave through the Magician Quarter after collecting all 7 reports, as it has no mechanism gate. This mission doubles as a great scouting opportunity — take note of hunting spots, NPC locations, and mechanisms as you pass through each quarter. The guard reports are needed to continue the quest, so do not skip any of them.
13

Return Reports to Palimuth

Yalahar -- City Centre
After collecting all 7 guard reports, return to Palimuth and hand them in. He will be satisfied with the information and prepare the next mission.

MISSION 03: DEATH TO THE DEATHBRINGER

First choice mission: Choose Palimuth (good) or Azerus (bad). Opens Alchemist Quarter mechanism.

14

Read the Background Notes

Yalahar -- Palimuth / Azerus
Talk to Palimuth about a “mission”. He will give you two notes to read in the small room to the left. If you are following the bad side, Azerus (the Yalahari NPC) also provides two notes explaining his perspective. Read the notes before proceeding.
15

Enter the Alchemist Quarter

Yalahar -- Alchemist Quarter
You can now use the Alchemist Quarter mechanism. Enter the quarter and prepare for combat. You will face Death Blobs, Mutated Humans, Mutated Rats, Acid Blobs, Slimes, Mutated Tigers, and Bog Raiders. Having a blocker or a ranged partner is helpful.

DANGER

The Alchemist Quarter contains dangerous creature packs. Mutated Humans and Bog Raiders deal significant damage. Bring strong healing potions and consider bringing a team member for safety, especially at lower levels.
16

Kill the 3 Plague Bearers

Alchemist Quarter -- Various Locations
You must kill three plague bearer bosses scattered throughout the quarter:
  • -- Diseased Dan — found in the southeast area
  • -- Diseased Bill — found deeper in the quarter
  • -- Diseased Fred — found near Diseased Bill
Only the player who deals the most damage to each boss gets kill credit. If doing this in a team, you will need to kill each boss multiple times so everyone gets credit.
17

Get The Alchemists' Formulas

Alchemist Quarter -- Northeast
After killing the plague bearers, head to the building northeast of Diseased Bill and Diseased Fred. Go down the stairs and head northwest to find The Alchemists' Formulas in a box. Be prepared to fight up to 6 Bog Raiders and 2 Mutated Tigers guarding the area.
18

Choose: Burn or Deliver the Formulas

Alchemist Quarter / City Centre
Good side (Palimuth):Burn The Alchemists' Formulas on an oven. There is an oven just 5 squares west of the box where you found the formulas — use it immediately for convenience. Then report to Palimuth.

Bad side (Azerus):Keep The Alchemists' Formulas intact and deliver them directly to the Yalahari (Azerus) NPC.

💡 TIP

If you choose the good side, burn the formulas on the nearby oven immediately. The next closest oven is at Julius' house in Yalahar, which is a long walk. Alternatively, you can use an Adventurer's Stone to teleport to the Adventurer's Guild and use Eclesius' basement oven.

MISSION 04: GOOD TO BE KINGPIN (TRADE QUARTER)

Choice mission: Opens Trade Quarter mechanism.

19

Choose Your Path to Mr. West

Yalahar -- Trade Quarter
You must find and confront Mr. West in the Trade Quarter. The path differs based on your side choice:

Good side (Palimuth): Travel through the sewers to reach Mr. West, avoiding the need to fight his henchmen. Enter the sewers northwest of the depot, head south, and follow the passage through a door until you reach Mr. West. You may encounter Tarantulas, Slimes, and Centipedes along the way.

Bad side (Azerus):Use the Trade Quarter gate mechanism and fight your way through Mr. West's forces. You will encounter Mad Scientists, Gladiators, Gang Members, and lesser creatures. Work your way to the top of the building and through a quest door to find Mr. West.
Mr. West— say "mission"
Tell Mr. West about your mission. He will negotiate or submit depending on your approach. Once the conversation is complete, you can return to Palimuth or Azerus.

💡 TIP

The good side (sewer route) is significantly faster and safer. You avoid almost all combat and reach Mr. West directly. Even if you return through the sewers on the bad side after confronting him, the initial approach through the gate involves substantial fighting.

MISSION 05: FOOD OR FIGHT (ARENA QUARTER)

Choice mission: Opens Arena Quarter mechanism. Requires Barbarian Test Quest + Ice Islands Quest first mission.

20

Find Tamerin in the Arena Quarter

Yalahar -- Arena Quarter
You are sent to find a druid named Tamerin in the Arena Quarter. You now have permission to use the Arena Quarter gate mechanism. Tamerin will only listen to your mission after you complete two favors for him.
21

Favor 1: Bring Animal Cure

Nibelor -- Siflind
Tamerin needs a flask of Animal Cure. You can buy this from Siflind on Nibelor, but only if you are currently on this mission and have access to Nibelor (requires the first mission of the Ice Islands Quest completed). If you cannot reach Nibelor yourself, a friend who has the quest and access can buy it for you — as long as they are also on this current mission.

DANGER

You MUST have completed all 3 Barbarian Tests AND the first mission of the Ice Islands Quest (Nibelor: Breaking the Ice) to proceed with this mission. If you have not done these prerequisite quests, you will be unable to buy the Animal Cure from Siflind. Complete these quests before attempting Mission 5.
22

Favor 2: Kill Morik the Gladiator

Arena Quarter -- First Floor
Tamerin also wants you to kill Morik the Gladiator and bring back his helmet as proof. Morik is located on the first floor of the Arena building. Go around clockwise to find him in the last room. He fights like a strong melee creature, so come prepared with healing supplies.
23

Choose: Cattle or Warbeasts

Yalahar -- Tamerin
After completing both favors and delivering the items and helmet to Tamerin, he will listen to your request:

Good side (Palimuth): Ask Tamerin to breed cattle for food to help feed the city.

Bad side (Azerus): Ask Tamerin to breed warbeasts to help the Yalahari take back control of the quarters.

MISSION 06: FRIGHTENING FUEL (CEMETERY QUARTER)

Choice mission: Opens Cemetery Quarter mechanism.

24

Receive the Ghost Charm

Yalahar -- City Centre
Azerus gives you a Ghost Charm and orders you to charge it with the tormented souls of ghosts in the Cemetery Quarter. Palimuth wants the charged charm so he can free those trapped souls. You can now use the Cemetery Quarter mechanism.
25

Charge the Ghost Charm

Yalahar -- Cemetery Quarter
Go to the large building in the Cemetery Quarter. Find the Strange Carving at the back of the room and use the Ghost Charm on it. Then kill Tormented Ghosts and use the Ghost Residue on your charm three times. After the third charge, two more Tormented Ghosts will spawn. The Ghost Charm transforms into a Charged Ghost Charm once fully powered.

DANGER

WARNING: Other players can steal your Ghost Charm if you drop it or leave it on the ground. Keep it in your backpack at all times. The Tormented Ghosts can be dangerous, so bring adequate healing supplies.
26

Deliver the Charged Ghost Charm

Yalahar -- City Centre
Good side: Bring the Charged Ghost Charm to Palimuth. He will use it to free the trapped souls.

Bad side: Deliver the Charged Ghost Charm to Azerus (Yalahari NPC). He will use the souls as an energy source.

MISSION 07: A FISHY MISSION (SUNKEN QUARTER)

Choice mission: Opens Sunken Quarter mechanism. Requires Helmet of the Deep.

27

Prepare and Enter the Sunken Quarter

Yalahar -- Sunken Quarter
You will need a Helmet of the Deep for this mission as you are going underwater. Talk to Tarak and ask him for a “trip” to the Sunken Quarter. Equip your Helmet of the Deep and jump into the water. The Sunken Quarter mechanism is now usable.

DANGER

The underwater areas contain strong Quara creatures: Quara Constrictors, Quara Mantassins, Quara Hydromancers, Quara Pinchers, and Quara Predators. Bring friends for safety. The deeper floors have significantly more dangerous creatures.
28

Complete the Underwater Objective

Sunken Quarter -- Underwater
Good side (Palimuth): Find Maritima and talk to her about the “Quara”. She will explain why the Quara are behaving aggressively. No combat required for the actual objective.

Bad side (Azerus): Hunt and kill three Quara leaders: Inky, Splasher, and Sharptooth. These are boss-type creatures that can deal significant damage. Bring a team for safety.

💡 TIP

The good side is dramatically easier for Mission 7 — you only need to talk to an NPC instead of fighting three boss creatures. This is one of the biggest difficulty differences between the two paths. On either side, minimize your time in the deeper underwater areas where Quara Predators and Quara Hydromancers spawn heavily.

MISSION 08: DANGEROUS MACHINATIONS (FACTORY QUARTER)

Choice mission: Opens Factory Quarter mechanism.

29

Enter the Factory Quarter

Yalahar -- Factory Quarter
You are sent to the Factory Quarter to find a Matrix Crystal. The Yalahari wants a Weapon Matrix Crystal to supply weapons. Palimuth wants a Food Matrix Crystal to supply food. The Factory Quarter mechanism is now usable.
30

Get the Matrix Crystal (Good Side)

Factory Quarter -- Underground
Good side (Palimuth): Go down the hole and descend through several floors. You will encounter Damaged Worker Golems (2 on the first floor) and Worker Golems (2-3 per subsequent floor, up to 5 total on the deepest level). The Food Matrix Crystal is behind a quest door on the deepest floor. You can lure the Worker Golems in smaller numbers to manage the fights.
31

Get the Matrix Crystal (Bad Side)

Factory Quarter -- Underground
Bad side (Azerus): Enter through a different hole and descend. You will face 1 Worker Golem on the first floor and 4-5 Worker Golems on the next. Use the northeast corner to fight a maximum of 3 at a time. The Weapon Matrix Crystal is on the lowest floor.

💡 TIP

Speed run option: Worker Golems are slow. If you are not prepared for combat or want to save time, you can run through all floors in full defense mode, grab the crystal, and run back up. You can lock yourself inside the chest room once you reach it for safety.
32

Activate the Mysterious Machine

Factory Quarter -- Underground
Regardless of which crystal you obtained, go down a specific hole (near the Damaged Worker Golems entrance) and head north through a quest door. This room contains 5 Worker Golems that you can fight one by one by letting them approach between two crosses. Walk to the Mysterious Machine in the north and use it to turn it on. Then use your Food Matrix Crystal or Weapon Matrix Crystal on the activated machine. Return to your chosen NPC to report.

DANGER

Be careful not to get trapped by Worker Golems in the machine room. The room has tight corners and multiple golems. If unprepared, run quickly to the machine, use your crystal, and exit before getting surrounded.

MISSION 09: DECISION

Final side choice: Determines your achievement. No combat required.

33

Choose Your Final Side

Yalahar -- City Centre
This is the moment of commitment. You must first say “mission” to BOTH Palimuth and the Yalahari (Azerus). They will each tell you that you need to make a final decision between them. Then go to the NPC you want to align with and say “mission” again. They will ask if you are choosing them — say “yes” to confirm.
Palimuth / Azerus— say "mission, yes"
Speak to both NPCs about the mission first. Then return to your chosen NPC, ask about the mission again, and confirm your choice with “yes”. This locks in your final side and determines your achievement.
34

Achievement Outcomes

N/A
Your achievement is determined by your choices across ALL missions (3 through 8) combined with this final decision:
  • -- Follower of Palimuth — All missions done on good side AND chose Palimuth here
  • -- Follower of Azerus — All missions done on bad side AND chose Azerus here
  • -- Turncoat — Mixed good and bad missions throughout the quest
  • -- No achievement — If you did all missions on one side but chose the opposite side here

WARNING

If you completed all missions following one side (for example, all Palimuth) but then choose the OPPOSITE side in Mission 9, you will receive NO achievement at all. Make sure your final choice aligns with your previous missions if you want a specific achievement.

MISSION 10: THE FINAL BATTLE

Level 80 required. Team of 10+ recommended. Level 120+ recommended for combat.

DANGER

This is the only mission with a level requirement. You MUST be level 80 or higher. A team of at least 10 players at level 100+ is recommended. The boss Azerus has 26,000 HP, summons waves of creatures, and there is a time limit of approximately 12 minutes to defeat him. Mages should bring Avalanche, Thunderstorm, Great Fireball, and Stone Shower Runes.
35

Assemble Your Team

Yalahar -- Central
Gather a team of at least 10 players at level 80+. Higher-level teams (120+) will have a much easier time. You need multiple Knights to block summons, Druids for healing (Exura Sio the blockers), and Sorcerers/Paladins for ranged damage. The boss fight takes place 3 floors below Yalahar Central.
36

Fight Azerus -- Phase 1: Rift Worms

Yalahar Central -- 3 Floors Down
Azerus (26,000 HP) appears first with a wave of Rift Worms. IGNORE Azerus during this phase — he is extremely hard to damage while his shields are up. Focus all firepower on killing the Rift Worms first.
37

Fight Azerus -- Phase 2: Rift Broods

Yalahar Central -- Boss Room
After the Rift Worms are dead, Azerus teleports to another position in the room and summons Rift Broods. These are similar to Massive Energy Elementals. Use Stone Shower Runes on them. Continue to ignore Azerus — his shields are still active.
38

Fight Azerus -- Phase 3: Rift Scythes

Yalahar Central -- Boss Room
Azerus next summons Rift Scythes, which fight similarly to Grim Reapers. Switch to Great Fireball Runes for these creatures. Knights must block them while ranged attackers focus them down. Still ignore Azerus.
39

Fight Azerus -- Phase 4: War Golems and Kill Azerus

Yalahar Central -- Boss Room
In the final phase, Azerus summons War Golems. This is when Azerus becomes vulnerable to full damage. IGNORE the War Golems and concentrate ALL firepower on Azerus. You must kill him quickly — there is a time limit of approximately 12 minutes for the entire fight.

DANGER

Azerus hits hard: up to 900+ melee, 3800+ mana drain, 1050 fire beam, and a death berserk attack. Knights blocking Azerus need strong healing support from Druids. Keep at least 2 Druids dedicated to healing the main blocker at all times. If the timer runs out before Azerus dies, the fight resets and you must start over.
40

Enter the Magic Forcefield

Yalahar Central -- Boss Room
Once Azerus is defeated, his body transforms into a Magic Forcefield. ALL players in the team must step into the forcefield. You will be teleported to a room with many rift monsters visible. Walk to the northernmost point of the room. When you see red text referring to Azerus's army, the mission is complete.

💡 TIP

Team Strategy Summary:
-- Phase 1 (Rift Worms): Kill summons, ignore Azerus
-- Phase 2 (Rift Broods): Stone Shower, ignore Azerus
-- Phase 3 (Rift Scythes): Great Fireball, ignore Azerus
-- Phase 4 (War Golems): ALL DAMAGE ON AZERUS, ignore golems
-- After kill: Everyone steps into the forcefield, walks north
-- Use voice chat for coordination. The 12-minute timer is strict.
41

Claim Your Rewards

Yalahar -- Palimuth
Report back to Palimuth to receive the Yalaharian Outfit. You also gain access to the reward room where you can choose ONE equipment piece from the available chests. Choose carefully — you can only pick one item per character.

EQUIPMENT REWARD — CHOOSE ONE

Upon completing all 10 missions, you gain access to a reward room with 4 chests. You may choose ONE item. Each is restricted to a specific vocation and requires level 80 to equip.

🏆 Yalahari Armor (Knights)

Armor: 16 | Death protection +3% | Weight: 70.00 oz | Upgrade class 2. A strong mid-level knight armor with more armor value than a Dragon Scale Mail. Good choice for knights who do not yet have a Magic Plate Armor.

🏆 Yalahari Leg Piece (Paladins)

Armor: 8 | Distance fighting +2 | Death protection +5% | Upgrade class 2 | Weight: 65.00 oz. An excellent leg piece for paladins offering both offensive (distance fighting bonus) and defensive (death protection) benefits.

🏆 Yalahari Mask (Sorcerers / Druids)

Armor: 5 | Magic level +2 | 1 Imbue slot | Upgrade class 2 | Weight: 35.00 oz. The best choice for mages. The +2 magic level bonus and imbue slot make this a powerful helmet that remains useful well into mid-game.

🏆 Yalahari Footwraps (Monks)

Armor: 1 | Fist fighting +2 | Death protection +3% | Mantra: 3 | 1 Imbue slot | Upgrade class 2 | Weight: 7.00 oz. The dedicated monk reward, providing fist fighting bonus and mantra value alongside death protection.

💡 TIP

Our recommendation by vocation:Knights should always pick the Yalahari Armor — its 16 armor and death protection make it competitive with more expensive options. Paladins benefit tremendously from the Yalahari Leg Piece's distance fighting +2. Mages should absolutely choose the Yalahari Mask — the +2 magic level and imbue slot are extremely valuable at level 80. The reward chest order from north to south is: Armor, Leg Piece, Mask, Footwraps.

PRO TIPS

  • 1. Do the Searoutes mission immediately. Having boat access from 8 cities to Yalahar will save you enormous time throughout the quest and all future visits. The total cost for 5 items is under 1,000 gold.
  • 2. Complete prerequisites before starting. Make sure you have Explorer Society Novice rank, all 3 Barbarian Tests done, and Ice Islands Quest started. Having a Helmet of the Deep ready for Mission 7 eliminates backtracking.
  • 3. Choose good side for speed. Palimuth's missions consistently involve less combat. The biggest difference is Mission 7 where the good side only requires an NPC conversation versus fighting 3 Quara bosses underwater.
  • 4. Missions 1-9 require no level. Start this quest as early as possible — even low-level characters can unlock all quarter mechanisms through Mission 8. Only Mission 10 (Azerus boss) requires level 80.
  • 5. Worker Golems are slow. In Mission 8, you can run past all Worker Golems, grab the crystal, and run back without fighting. Use full defense mode and keep moving.
  • 6. Guard your Ghost Charm. In Mission 6, other players can steal your Ghost Charm. Never drop it or leave it on the ground. Keep it in your backpack at all times during the cemetery mission.
  • 7. Mission 10 has a time limit. The Azerus boss fight has approximately 12 minutes. Your team must deal enough damage within this window. Focus damage correctly: kill summons in phases 1-3, then burst Azerus in phase 4 when War Golems spawn.
  • 8. Blood Brothers Quest for outfit addon. The Yalaharian Outfit addon is NOT unlocked through this quest. You must separately complete the Blood Brothers Quest after finishing In Service of Yalahar.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What level do I need for the In Service of Yalahar Quest?

Level 80 is required only for Mission 10 (The Final Battle). Missions 1 through 9 have no level requirement at all. However, level 120+ is recommended for a smoother experience, especially during the Azerus boss fight in Mission 10 which demands a well-organized team.

Should I choose Palimuth (good side) or Azerus (bad side)?

Both sides offer the same Yalaharian Outfit and the same equipment reward choices. The difference is the achievement you receive: Follower of Palimuth (all good), Follower of Azerus (all bad), or Turncoat (mixed sides). The good side missions are generally easier as they involve less combat. Most players choose Palimuth for convenience.

How many players are needed for Mission 10?

A team of at least 10 players at level 100+ is recommended. The boss Azerus has 26,000 HP, summons waves of different creatures (Rift Worms, Rift Broods, Rift Scythes, War Golems), and has a time limit of approximately 12 minutes. Higher-level teams of 5-8 experienced players can also complete it.

Which reward item should I choose after completing the quest?

Knights should choose the Yalahari Armor (Arm: 16, death +3%). Paladins benefit most from the Yalahari Leg Piece (Arm: 8, distance fighting +2, death +5%). Mages (Sorcerers and Druids) should pick the Yalahari Mask (Arm: 5, magic level +2, 1 imbue slot). Monks should select the Yalahari Footwraps (fist fighting +2, death +3%, mantra 3).

Do I need to complete all boat route items for the Searoutes mission?

No. You only need to deliver 5 out of the 8 possible items to Captain Karith. All 8 boat destinations are unlocked regardless of which 5 items you choose. Pick the cheapest and most convenient ones to save time and money.

Can I switch between good and bad side during the quest?

Yes. Each mission from Mission 3 onward lets you independently choose Palimuth (good) or Azerus (bad). Doing all missions on one side gives the corresponding Follower achievement. Mixing sides gives the Turncoat achievement. Your final side is locked in during Mission 9: Decision.

What prerequisites do I need before starting?

You need Novice rank or higher in the Explorer Society to travel to Yalahar via Captain Max. Mission 5 requires completed Barbarian Test Quest and the first mission of Ice Islands Quest (or a friend who has access). Mission 7 requires a Helmet of the Deep. No other quests are required beforehand.
