ABOUT THE QUEST

The Hero of Rathleton Quest is the culmination of the Rathleton Quest line in Oramond. After achieving the rank of Squire through Rathleton's voting tasks, Glooth Factory missions, and other civic duties, you gain access to Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon — a deadly underground laboratory where the mad professor conducts his Glooth experiments.

The quest consists of three sequential boss phases, each triggered by activating 8 Strange Machines and entering a Magic Forcefield. Every phase operates on a strict 10-minute timer. If you fail to defeat the boss within the time limit, you are ejected and must start that phase over.

The dungeon is packed with dangerous Glooth creatures including War Golems, Rustheap Golems, Metal Gargoyles, and more. Be fully supplied before entering.

STEP-BY-STEP WALKTHROUGH — ALL 3 PHASES

PREPARATION: ENTERING JACCUS MAXXEN'S DUNGEON

1

Reach Squire Rank in the Rathleton Quest

Rathleton, Oramond
Before you can access Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon, you must have completed enough of the Rathleton Quest line to achieve the rank of Squire. This involves completing voting tasks, Glooth Factory missions, and other civic activities in Rathleton. The rank system is based on accumulated points from these activities.

💡 TIP

Reaching Squire rank takes time. Focus on daily voting tasks and Glooth Factory runs to accumulate rank points efficiently. Check the task board in Rathleton regularly for available missions.
2

Travel to Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon

Oramond — Underground
Once you have Squire rank, travel to Oramond and find the entrance to Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon. The dungeon is located underground in the Oramond area. Make sure your team is fully supplied before descending — the dungeon is filled with aggressive Glooth creatures and there is no safe zone once inside.

DANGER

The path to the boss arenas passes through corridors filled with War Golems, Rustheap Golems, Metal Gargoyles, Glooth Blobs, Lost Berserkers, and other dangerous creatures. Clear a path carefully and do not rush ahead of your team. These creatures hit hard and can overwhelm unprepared players.

PHASE 1: “A VOICE IN THE DARKNESS” — DEEP TERROR

3

Activate 8 Strange Machines

Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon — Phase 1 Area
Locate and activate all 8 Strange Machines scattered throughout the Phase 1 area. Each machine must be used (clicked) to power it on. Once all 8 are activated, a Magic Forcefield will appear that serves as the entrance to the boss arena.

💡 TIP

Split your team to activate the 8 machines faster. The machines are spread across the area, and activating them quickly gives you more time for the actual boss fight. Memorize their locations on your first attempt so subsequent runs go faster.
4

Enter the Magic Forcefield

Phase 1 Boss Arena
Step through the Magic Forcefield to enter the Deep Terror boss arena. A 10-minute timer starts the moment you enter. You must defeat all enemies and the Deep Terror boss within this window or you will be ejected and must repeat the phase.
5

Survive the Glooth Anemone Waves

Phase 1 Boss Arena
The fight begins with waves of Glooth Anemones spawning throughout the arena. These are relatively weak individually but come in large numbers. AoE damage is highly effective here. Clear each wave quickly to preserve time for the main boss encounter.
6

Kill All 4 Tentacles Within 10 Seconds

Phase 1 Boss Arena
After the Anemone waves, 4 Tentacles of the Deep Terror spawn. This is the critical mechanic of Phase 1: all 4 Tentacles must be killed within a 10-second window of each other. If any Tentacle survives more than 10 seconds after the first one dies, the dead ones will respawn and you must try again.

CRITICAL MECHANIC

The 10-second Tentacle window is the make-or-break mechanic of Phase 1. If your team cannot coordinate killing all 4 Tentacles nearly simultaneously, you will waste precious time on the 10-minute timer. Each Tentacle has moderate HP — assign one player (or pair) per Tentacle and count down to burst them together.

💡 TIP

Tentacle Strategy: Have your team spread out and each focus on one Tentacle. Get all 4 Tentacles to low HP first, then coordinate a final burst to kill them all within the 10-second window. Use voice chat to count down. Mages can use area runes to soften multiple Tentacles while Knights and Paladins focus single targets.
7

Defeat the Deep Terror

Phase 1 Boss Arena
Once all 4 Tentacles are destroyed within the time window, the Deep Terror boss spawns. This is a large, dangerous creature with heavy-hitting attacks. Focus all damage on the Deep Terror while your Knight blocks it. Druids should keep the blocker healed with Exura Sio. Kill it before the 10-minute timer expires to complete Phase 1.

DANGER

The Deep Terror deals high physical and earth damage. It can also summon additional Glooth Anemones during the fight. Have your mages deal with adds while the Knight maintains aggro on the boss. Do not let the adds overwhelm your healers.

PHASE 2: “THE PLOT THICKENS” — MULTIPLYING GLOOTH HORRORS

8

Activate Another 8 Strange Machines

Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon — Phase 2 Area
Just like Phase 1, locate and activate 8 Strange Machines in the Phase 2 area. Once all 8 are powered on, the Magic Forcefield to the second boss arena will appear.
9

Enter the Glooth Horror Arena

Phase 2 Boss Arena
Step through the forcefield into the Phase 2 arena. Another 10-minute timer begins. This phase features one of the most unique boss mechanics in Tibia: a Glooth Horror that multiplies each time you kill it.
10

Understand the Multiplication Mechanic

Phase 2 Boss Arena
The fight begins with a single Feeble Glooth Horror. When you kill it, it splits into 2 Weakened Glooth Horrors. Kill those, and each splits into 2 regular Glooth Horrors. The pattern continues:
WAVECREATURECOUNTTOTAL KILLS
1Feeble Glooth Horror11
2Weakened Glooth Horror23
3Glooth Horror47
4Strong Glooth Horror815
5Empowered Glooth Horror1631

CRITICAL MECHANIC

The final wave of 16 Empowered Glooth Horrors is extremely dangerous. Each one hits hard with physical and energy attacks. If your team is not prepared for this wave, you will be overwhelmed. The 10-minute timer makes this especially punishing — if you spend too long on early waves, you will not have enough time for the Empowered wave.
11

Choose Your Strategy: Safe or AoE Rush

Phase 2 Boss Arena
There are two main approaches to the multiplication mechanic:
SAFE STRATEGY (Single-Target):

Kill one Glooth Horror at a time. This controls the number of active enemies but takes longer. Focus all damage on one target, kill it, then deal with its spawns one at a time. This method is safer because you never face more than a few enemies simultaneously, but you risk running out of time on the 10-minute timer.

AoE RUSH STRATEGY (Fast but Risky):

Use area-of-effect attacks to damage and kill multiple Glooth Horrors at once. This triggers multiple splits simultaneously, creating chaos but clearing waves much faster. Requires strong AoE damage dealers (Sorcerers with area runes, Druids with Eternal Winter) and a Knight who can handle tanking many enemies at once. Higher risk of team wipe but much faster completion.

💡 TIP

Recommended approach for most teams: Use a hybrid strategy. Single-target the early waves (Feeble, Weakened) to build momentum safely, then switch to AoE for the regular and Strong waves when your team has settled into a rhythm. Save your strongest AoE cooldowns for the final Empowered wave of 16.
12

Clear All Glooth Horrors

Phase 2 Boss Arena
Defeat all Glooth Horrors across every wave within the 10-minute timer. Once the last Empowered Glooth Horror falls, Phase 2 is complete. Regroup, heal up, and resupply before moving on to Phase 3.

PHASE 3: PROFESSOR MAXXEN

13

Enter the Final Boss Arena

Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon — Phase 3
After completing Phase 2, proceed deeper into the dungeon to reach the final boss arena. Professor Maxxen awaits with his Raging Fire minions. This is the concluding fight of the Hero of Rathleton Quest.
14

Fight Professor Maxxen

Phase 3 Boss Arena
Professor Maxxen is the final boss. He is a powerful mage-type enemy who deals heavy fire and energy damage. Throughout the fight, he will summon Raging Fires — dangerous fire elemental creatures that deal significant fire area damage and can quickly overwhelm your team if left unchecked.

DANGER

Professor Maxxen summons Raging Fires continuously during the fight. These deal heavy fire damage in an area around them. If you ignore the Raging Fires, the accumulated fire damage will kill even well-equipped players. Fire protection is ESSENTIAL for this phase. Bring fire resistance equipment and consider fire protection imbuements.
15

Manage the Raging Fire Adds

Phase 3 Boss Arena
Your team must balance damage between Professor Maxxen and his Raging Fire summons. Hellfire Fighters and Vulcongras may also appear during the fight. Assign your AoE damage dealers to keep the adds under control while your main damage dealers focus Professor Maxxen.

💡 TIP

Phase 3 Strategy: Have the Knight block Professor Maxxen while Druids maintain Exura Sio on the blocker. Sorcerers and Paladins should prioritize killing Raging Fires as they spawn to keep fire damage manageable. Only shift full focus to Maxxen once the add spawning slows down. Fire walls and fire bombs from the boss make positioning critical — keep moving.

💡 TIP

Charm Point Farming: Raging Fires are worth 50 charm points in the Bestiary and can ONLY be encountered during this boss fight. Kill as many as possible during each attempt. You can repeat this fight to accumulate Raging Fire kills for your Bestiary completion.
16

Defeat Professor Maxxen

Phase 3 Boss Arena
Once Professor Maxxen falls, the quest is complete. A reward chest or bag will appear containing your rewards. Make sure every team member loots their reward before leaving the arena.

REWARDS

Upon defeating Professor Maxxen and completing all three phases, you receive a reward bag containing the following items:

🏆 Glooth Glider Blueprint

The signature reward of the Hero of Rathleton Quest. This blueprint is used to obtain the Glooth Glider mount — a unique flying mount themed around Oramond's Glooth technology. One of the most distinctive mounts in the game.

🏆 4 Glooth Bags

Four Glooth Bags are included in your reward. These contain various Glooth-related items and materials. Open them for a chance at valuable Glooth crafting components.

🏆 5 Platinum Coins

A straightforward monetary reward of 5 Platinum Coins (equivalent to 500 Gold Coins). A nice bonus on top of the more unique rewards.

🏆 Walnut

A Walnut is included among the rewards. While seemingly humble, it completes the reward bag alongside the more valuable items.

PERMANENT ACCESS REWARDS

🏆 Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon Access

Permanent access to Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon and the ability to fight the bosses within. This means you can repeat the boss fights for Bestiary entries, loot, and charm point farming.

🏆 Raging Fire — 50 Charm Points

The ability to kill Raging Fires for Bestiary completion. Raging Fires are worth 50 charm points and can only be encountered during the Professor Maxxen fight, making this quest the exclusive path to unlocking them.

PRO TIPS

  • 1. Get Squire rank first. Do not travel to the dungeon without Squire rank — you cannot enter. Focus on Rathleton daily tasks and voting to accumulate rank points efficiently.
  • 2. Practice the Tentacle coordination. Phase 1's 10-second Tentacle window is the most common failure point for new teams. Practice communication and timing before your serious attempt. Voice chat is highly recommended.
  • 3. Do not panic during Glooth Horror multiplication. The exponential spawning in Phase 2 looks overwhelming, but the early waves are weak. Stay calm, follow your chosen strategy, and save cooldowns for the Empowered wave.
  • 4. Swap gear between phases. Phase 1-2 require energy and earth protection. Phase 3 requires fire protection. Carry both sets and swap during transitions between phases.
  • 5. Farm Raging Fires for charm points. With 50 charm points per Bestiary unlock, Raging Fires are one of the most valuable Bestiary entries. Repeat the Phase 3 fight specifically to accumulate kills.
  • 6. Bring a balanced team. At least 1 Knight (blocker), 1 Druid (healer), and 1-2 damage dealers (Sorcerer or Paladin). The Knight must be capable of tanking multiple enemies simultaneously across all phases.
  • 7. Watch the 10-minute timers. Every phase has a strict 10-minute limit. If you find yourself running low on time, play more aggressively — a team wipe with low time is better than a slow timeout with full HP.
  • 8. Clear the dungeon path first. Before attempting the boss phases, clear the corridor creatures so you have a safe retreat path and do not get ambushed between phases.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What level do I need for the Hero of Rathleton Quest?

There is no hard level requirement, but level 200+ is strongly recommended. The boss fights in Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon feature dangerous creatures like Deep Terror, multiplying Glooth Horrors, and Professor Maxxen with Raging Fires. Lower-level players will struggle with the 10-minute timers on each phase.

What rank do I need in the Rathleton Quest before starting?

You must have reached the rank of Squire in the Rathleton Quest. This is the prerequisite for gaining access to Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon. Complete the Rathleton Quest progression through voting tasks, Glooth Factory missions, and other Oramond activities until you reach Squire rank.

Can I solo the Hero of Rathleton Quest?

It depends on your level and vocation. High-level players (300+) with strong gear can solo the quest, though it requires good execution. The Deep Terror phase demands fast target-switching to kill all 4 Tentacles within a 10-second window. The Glooth Horror multiplication phase can snowball out of control if you do not manage the spawns carefully. For most players, a team of 3-5 is recommended.

How does the Glooth Horror multiplication mechanic work?

In Phase 2, you fight a Feeble Glooth Horror that splits when killed. One becomes two, two become four, four become eight, and eight become sixteen — totaling 31 kills across all waves. Each subsequent wave is stronger: Feeble, then Weakened, then regular Glooth Horror, then Strong, then Empowered. You must kill all within the 10-minute timer. AoE rush strategies are faster but riskier; single-target strategies are slower but safer.

What is the Glooth Glider Blueprint used for?

The Glooth Glider Blueprint is one of the key rewards from the Hero of Rathleton Quest. It is used to obtain the Glooth Glider mount. You receive the blueprint inside a reward bag upon completing all three boss phases in Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon.

How do I get 50 charm points from Raging Fires?

After completing the Hero of Rathleton Quest, you gain permanent access to Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon. Raging Fires spawn during the Professor Maxxen fight in Phase 3 and can be killed for Bestiary entries. Since Raging Fires are worth 50 charm points and only appear here, this quest is the only way to unlock them for your Bestiary. You can repeat the boss fight to accumulate kills.
