It's a Yalahari-style lamp. It doesn't expire or burn out, but can be turned off by using it. Although it was released in 8.5 it was not until 10.5 that this item could be obtained. Note that 8.5 was when The Lightbearer was implemented; it's possible that this item was intended as a Lightbearer-specific item but was forgotten about until later. Two lit small lamps can be seen in a room in the Castle of Carlin.
