1. QUEST OVERVIEW
The Way of the Monk Quest was introduced in the Monk Vocation Update (version 15.00). It follows the path of the ancient Merudri — a pilgrimage across 10 shrines scattered throughout Tibia, from the starter island of Targuna all the way to the mountains of Kilmaresh.
Each shrine has a minimum level requirement and must be visited in order from lowest to highest. You cannot skip shrines. Every shrine grants experience to all vocations, while Monks receive additional exclusive rewards at each stop.
IMPORTANT
Non-Monk vocations should start from the Blue Valley section. The quest is worth doing on any vocation for the 847,800 XP and 10 Promotion Points alone.
2. PREREQUISITES
You do not need any prerequisites to start the quest, but completing all 10 shrines requires access to several areas locked behind other quests:
REQUIRED ITEMS
- • Rope, Shovel, and Machete (or Secret Agent Tools)
- • Levitate spell or parcels
REQUIRED QUEST ACCESS
- • The Ice Islands Quest — Nibelor 2: Ecological Terrorism mission (for Tyrsung access, Shrine of Respect at level 30)
- • The Pits of Inferno Quest — The Levers mission (requires all five vocations, or players with high HP to cross purple flames; Shrine of Power at level 100)
- • The New Frontier Quest — Completed (for Zao access, Shrine of Knowledge at level 110)
- • Tomes of Knowledge Quest — 8 Tomes of Knowledge handed to NPC Cael (for Corruption Hole access)
- • Cults of Tibia Quest — The Powerful Relic stage of the Barkless mission (Shrine of Serenity at level 150)
3. HOW TO START
Travel to Blue Valleyvia the Adventurer's Guild. On the upper floor, next to the Reward Shrine, use the Enchanted Guarded Crystal Sphere to teleport to the island.
Find NPC Enpa-Deia Pema and ask him about pilgrimage. He will explain that all are welcome to visit the ancient Merudri shrines, though the journey is arduous. Use one of the nearby Guarded Crystal Spheres to begin.

XP TOTALS
Non-Monk vocations receive 847,800 XP total from visiting all 10 shrines. The bulk comes from the final three: Knowledge (75,000), Serenity (150,000), and Eternity (500,000). The quest is worth doing on any character for the XP and Promotion Points alone.
5. MONK-EXCLUSIVE REWARDS
Monks receive significantly more from this quest than other vocations. Here's the full breakdown:
EQUIPMENT PIECES
- • Boots of Enlightenment (Shrine of Guidance, lvl 6)
- • Fists of Enlightenment (Shrine of Tranquility, lvl 20)
- • Legs of Enlightenment (Shrine of Legacy, lvl 40)
- • Nunchaku of Enlightenment (Shrine of Empathy, lvl 50)
- • Coned Hat of Enlightenment (Shrine of Harmony, lvl 70)
- • Sai of Enlightenment (Shrine of Power, lvl 100)
- • Robe of Enlightenment (Shrine of Serenity, lvl 150)
SPELLS & COMBAT BONUSES
- • Mystic Repulse spell (Shrine of Respect, lvl 30)
- • Forceful Uppercut spell (Shrine of Knowledge, lvl 110)
- • Focus Harmony (Shrine of Eternity, lvl 275)
- • +25% auto attack damage (cumulative from 5 shrines at 5% each)
- • +50% auto attack damage when in Serene state
AUTO ATTACK BONUS BREAKDOWN
The auto attack bonus stacks from 5 shrines (Respect, Legacy, Empathy, Harmony, and Power), each granting +5% base auto attack damage. When a Monk enters the Serene state, this bonus doubles — so 25% becomes 50%. This is one of the strongest passives available to any vocation.
6. COMPLETING THE PILGRIMAGE
Once you have visited all 10 shrines, return to Blue Valley and report to NPC Enpa-Deia Pema. Say pilgrimage to him. He will recognize your achievement and grant you the final reward:
FINAL REWARDS (ALL VOCATIONS)
- • 10 Promotion Points — for the Wheel of Destiny
- • Hope of the Merudri achievement
- • Pensive Wanderer character title (from Shrine of Eternity)
7. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What level do I need for The Way of the Monk Quest?
Level 275 for full completion (the Eternity shrine in Kilmaresh). You can start at level 6 with the Guidance shrine in Targuna and progress through each shrine as you level up.
Can non-Monk vocations do this quest?
Yes. All vocations receive experience rewards (847,800 XP total), 10 Promotion Points, and the Hope of the Merudri achievement. Only Monks receive the exclusive equipment, spells, and auto attack bonus.
Do I have to visit the shrines in order?
Yes. The shrines must be visited from lowest to highest level requirement. Skipping a shrine prevents further progress.
What quests do I need first?
For the full pilgrimage: The Ice Islands Quest (Nibelor 2 mission), Pits of Inferno Quest (The Levers mission), The New Frontier Quest (completed), 8 Tomes of Knowledge to Cael, and Cults of Tibia Quest (Barkless - The Powerful Relic stage).
Is this quest worth doing on a non-Monk?
Absolutely. 847,800 XP and 10 Promotion Points for the Wheel of Destiny are valuable on any character. The shrines also take you through areas you may already have access to.
